ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT: In 2017 Amesville joined up with 2 efforts to help local communities grow and prosper. The first was through Rural Action (https://ruralaction.org/) in a project called "Entrepreneurial Communities". It worked to identify strategies to help new entrepreneurs and cottage businesses get started and grew their businesses. The second effort was the "Community Improvement Challenge" hosted by the Athens County Planners off ice and Commissioners. This program helped identify strengths in local communities that could help each latch on to new strategies that would attract business, attract new residents and strengthen the local economy. Below are some of the results of those two projects and the ideas that were generated by those participating.

Throughout Athens County, the library system maintains a collection of about 320,000 items, adding 25,000 new items every year while weeding out old materials that contain outdated information.
