The RSVP Volunteer Program, in cooperation with Foster Grandparents, will launch an intergenerational summer program for students in Kindergarten through Third Grade, beginning in June, 2015. The program, popularly known as “Summer Fun and Lunch with Grandma,” will be offered two days per week in two locations in Athens County, two locations in Vinton County, and one location in Hocking County. Hours are 10:30 a.m. to noon. There will be no income requirements--the sessions will be open to all children within the age range. In addition to a nutritious lunch and healthy beverages provided by the Southeastern Ohio Foodbank, the children will be exposed to age-appropriate literature, related activities and local guest presenters. This program will be administered by COAD’s Senior Program Division and implemented by a combination of Foster Grandparent volunteers, RSVP volunteers, Vista members and community members.
